All classes have three distinct phases:

  1. Standing Meditation and Warm up

  2. Forms Practice

  3. Instruction and/or applications

Tai Chi:

A Chinese martial art that is characterized by the practice of gentle, relaxedly slow movements and stretches, to cultivate vitality in the forms of energy and power in the body/mind. This cultivation of energy can be done for martial and self-defense purposes as well as for the healing of disease and trauma.

  • Year Long Course

    Good for beginners

    Over the course of the year, we’ll develop our sense of central equilibrium and cultivate stillness of mind and body while in standing and moving postures. We’ll bring forth greater flow through the practice of the Yang Style Short Form, and deepen our awareness through 2-person partner drills.

  • Year Long Course

    This course is best for those who have at least some familiarity with Tai Chi. If you’re applying to this course you should know at least one Tai Chi movement set.

    This course continues where Year 1 - Tai Chi Basics left off. Over the course of the year, we’ll learn and practice 2 person fighting sets (known as San Shou) and applications to develop our energetic flow and fluidity of movement.

  • Private lessons are ideal for those looking to heal a particular issue or ailment, or for those interested in Tai Chi and Qigong but don’t feel comfortable or able to attend or commit to my group classes.

    Tai Chi and Qigong are powerful practices that can help bring about great change and healing to your life but it takes consistent practice and dedication. Like cultivating a garden, our energy and healing takes patient and regular daily attention.

Qigong:

Developed in China over a thousand years ago, Qigong is an entire aspect of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It utilizes exercise to help support the cultivation of healthy, vital energy in the body, mind and spirit. The fundamental goal is to improve and maintain our general health and wellbeing through mindful, meditative movements and breath work.

    Ideal for both beginners and experienced practitioners alike, we’re going to cultivate our relationship with our energy, mind, and body. We will use stationary and moving meditative movements to develop our sense of central equilibrium, strengthen our joints, muscles, ligaments, and energetic flow.
